Summary

A thirteen-months study (May 91 to June 92) carried out on 21 single-family houses located in the Ile d'Oléron (France). These residences, constructed about 1960 according to the current standards of that period, have been recently retrofitted and equiped with reversible air conditioners (used as heat pumps in winter). Having examinated particular cases, this new equipment seems particularly suitable for heating in these geographic and climatic conditions (temperate summers, mild winters) taking account of the (quite traditional) customs of the occupants.
