Author(s) : BOJARSKI G.

Summary

Atmosphere control options purchased by the shipping and leasing industry for refrigerated marine containers amounted to 23% of the total number of refrigerated container manufactured in 1998 (approximately 12,000 options for 51,000 units). Introductions of integral controlled atmosphere units for marine refrigeration has increased significantly in 1998. Recent improvements to integral controlled atmosphere systems include the integration of humidity control, which minimizes moisture loss in fresh produce transport. This paper evaluates the current state of the technology for total atmosphere control and presents new technologies.
