Mass fraction checks of an R1233zd(E) and R1234yf mixture in a high-temperature heat pump.

Summary

Glide matching using refrigerant mixtures is frequently proposed for refrigeration and heat pump applications with large temperature changes on the heat source and sink. The refrigerants R1233zd(E) and R1234yf are examplesof a mixture with appreciable thermodynamic properties but limited availability ofexperimental data. This paper presents simple thermodynamic property checks of datacollected using a laboratory scale high temperature heat pump against REFPROP model estimates. The density in the liquid line, the temperature at the evaporator inlet and the dewpoint temperature at varying pressures are consistent with the REFPROP estimates, and the energy balance is closed using enthalpies from REFPROP. The results increase the confidence into the REFPROP mixture model for the mixture R1233zd(E) and R1234yf for engineering design applications.
