Summary
THIS IS A PATENTED PROCESS USING A HEAT PUMP WITH WATER AS THE FLUID, AND A PUMP WITH LIQUID RING AS THE WATER STEAM COMPRESSOR. THE ADVANTAGES OF WATER AS THE FLUID AND THE OPERATING CHARACTERISTICS OF THE PUMP WITH LIQUID RING, MORE GENERALLY USED AS A VACUUM PUMP, ARE SUMMARISED. THE APPLICATION, SINCE THE BEGINNING OF 1981, OF THIS PROCESS TO A THERMOMECHANICAL PULP MANUFACTURING UNIT (10 T/HR DRY PULP) IS DESCRIBED. DETAILS ARE GIVEN ON THE OPERATION AND THE MAINTENANCE OF THE EVAPORATOR AND THE PUMP WITH LIQUID RING. AN ANNUAL SCHEDULE OF OPERATION FOR THE PLANT AND ECONOMICS ARE GIVEN. L.R.
