Summary

MINIATURE CRYOGENIC COOLERS BASED ON JOULE-THOMSON SYSTEM PRESENT CERTAIN TYPICAL PROBLEMS IN THEIR DESIGN AND FABRICATION. HIGHLY EFFICIENT AND COMPACT HEAT EXCHANGERS USING A SPECIAL ARRANGEMENT OF MINIATURE FINNED TUBE HAVE TO BE USED. THE PAPER DESCRIBES EFFORTS IN THE DEVELOPMENT OF SUCH MINICOOLERS. OBSERVATIONS OF THE EFFECTIVENESS OF COOLING WITH RESPECT TO VARIOUS PARAMETERS ARE ALSO RECORDED.
