Type of article: Article

Summary

THE LAMINAR FLOW AND HEAT TRANSFER WITHIN A HORIZONTAL TUBE SURROUNDED BY A LIQUID MEDIUM ARE STUDIED BOTH EXPERIMENTALLY AND NUMERICALLY. EMPHASIS IS GIVEN TO FLOW REGIMES WHERE A BUOYANT EFFECT ON THE FORCED FLOW IS EXHIBITED INSIDE THE THE OUTER SURFACE OF THE TUBE IS ALSO SUBJECTED TO NATURAL CONVECTION RESULTING FROM THE TEMPERATURE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE WALL AND THE SURROUNDING FLUID. DETAILED ANALYSES ARE PERFORMED FOR A NUMBER OF CASES WITH VARIOUS FLUIDS, INLET TEMPERATURES AND FLUID FLOWS.
