Summary
This study characterizes the behaviour and determines the optimum conditions for operation of compression thermal machines using CO2 as a refrigerant. The results obtained result from a trial run carried out on a CO2 air/water heat pump and from a model simulating its operation. The results show that for a variation in the temperature of the heat source (water) between 20 and 40 °C and a cold source temperature of 5 °C, the optimal discharge pressure varies between 75 and 115 bar.
