Modelling an open intercooler for binary mixtures.

Summary

The paper describes a theoretical approach to determine the influence of changing composition of binary mixtures on thermodynamic performance of the two-stage cycle with an open intercooler. Computer simulations were carried out for R404A, R407B, R407C, and R32-R134a (50-50%). The results obtained show that glide of 5 to 7 K is sufficient to decrease of the cycle performance about 10%. Near-azeotropes (R404A) behave almost like pure refrigerants.
