MODELLING AND VERIFICATION OF A GROUND-COUPLED HEAT PUMP.

Summary

A THEORETICAL MODEL OF A GROUND-COUPLED HEAT PUMP IS DESCRIBED. IT HAS BEEN PERFORMED BY SOLVING HEAT AND MASS BALANCE EQUATIONS FOR EACH COMPONENT OF THE HEAT PUMP. TO DETERMINE HEAT TRANSFER IN THE GROUND, THE SOIL TEMPERATURE HAS BEEN CALCULATED BY A FOURIER SERIES DEVELOPMENT. THE MODEL DEVELOPED PREDICTS THE HEAT PUMP OUTPUT, THE INPUT POWER TO THE COMPRESSOR AND THE VARIATION OF COP DURING A WHOLE HEATING SEASON. THE CALCULATED AND EXPERIMENTAL RESULTS HAVE BEEN SHOWN TO BE IN GOOD AGREEMENT.
