Modelling of a low temperature panel heating system.

Author(s) : GAVRILIUC R., LEIB J. G.

Summary

This paper presents a numerical simulation - performed with the aid of MATLAB PDE Toolbox - with regard to the thermal behavior of a low temperature heating system. This simulation is a continuation of a previous calculation dealing with the complex heat exchange process occurring in a closed environment between the active radiant heat surfaces - on the one hand - and the other surfaces plus the indoor air - on the other hand. By imposing a certain value for the indoor air temperature, the result of the calculation is the temperature distribution on all the surface elements of the room under survey - including the surface temperature of the active radiant heat surfaces (which are in fact the heating panels). The numerical simulation of the low temperature panel heating system enables the dynamic calculation of the temperature distribution and heat flux for three different panel geometries, aiming towards system analysis and optimization.
