An adaptive conflation between CFD and thermal simulation for modelling indoor airflow and convective heat transfer at internal building surfaces.

Summary

This paper describes the adaptive conflation controller, which has been implemented in the ESP-r Program to support the coupling of CFD with whole building thermal simulation. Working with a suite of turbulence models, near-wall methods and boundary condition treatments, the controller monitors the evolving thermal and airflow conditions in the room and dynamically selects an appropriate combination of modelling approaches for the prevailing conditions.
