Summary

Modelling under dynamic-flow conditions of the generation phase of a solar-absorption refrigeration installation operating intermittently, using the ammonia/water pair was established. The study, based on intermittent operation and thanks to matter and heat balance data, made it possible to design a thermodynamic model linking temperatures, flow rates and mass fractions in various compartments. Representative sunny days over the four seasons were considered. Variations in the insolation rates, the temperatures and the concentrations were considered. Results showed that, taking into account the hypothesis adopted, constant operating pressure in particular, the proposed method made it possible to obtain a generation temperature of around 135°C and a condensation temperature of 60°C. These temperatures were achieved thanks to the use of natural air convection for condenser operation.
