Modelling research of a silica gel-water adsorption chiller applied in a micro CCHP system.

Author(s) : LI S., WU J. Y.

Summary

In this work, a silica gel-water adsorption chiller is applied to an I.C. engine based micro CCHP system. It is driven by the waste heat from the I.C. engine and supplies the cooling power to the space. A transient model of the adsorption chiller is developed in order to predict its characteristics in such a typical condition of variable heat source temperature. The model is verified by some previous experimental data. The simulated results show that the refrigerating capacity and COP of the adsorption chiller is influenced significantly by the electricity load of the system. It is predicted that the system can supply 10.6 kW heating power and 8.68 kW cooling power to the space at best under the condition of full electricity load. Further more, the system shows a good anti-jamming performance with fluctuating electricity power load.
