MODIFICATION OF VINTAGE HIGH-PRESSURE CYCLE AIR SEPARATION PLANT TO LOW-PRESSURE CYCLES.

Summary

IT IS PROPOSED THAT HIGH-PRESSURE (HP) CYCLE AIR SEPARATION UNITS BE MODIFIED TO A LOW-PRESSURE (LP) CYCLE. THE MODEL CLOSELY MATCHES ACTUAL PERFORMANCE. THE IDENTICAL MODEL IS USED TO PREDICT THE PERFORMANCE AND OPERATING PARAMETERS FOR THE CORRESPONDING LP CYCLE. COMPARING THE HP VS LP CYCLE FOR THE EXISTING PLANT, DEMONSTRATES ECONOMIC JUSTIFICATION TO MODIFY THE EXISTING PLANT TO AN LP CYCLE. THE CRITERION USED FOR CYCLE COMPARISON IS A SPECIFIC POWER. IT IS FURTHER PROPOSED THAT MODIFICATIONOF HP UNITS TO A HP COMPARABLE LP CYCLE WILL BE ECONOMICALLY JUSTIFIABLE FOR PLANT LARGER THAN THE UNIT STUDIED IN THE PAPER. ONLY SPECIFIC CAPITAL EQUIPMENT IS ENVISIONED FOR IMPORTATION INTO THE CLIENT'S COUNTRY. THE LABOR PORTION OF VALUE-ADDED TO THE NEW PLANT WILL BE CARRIED OUT ON-SITE BY LOCAL PERSONNEL UNDER EXPERT SUPERVISION.
