MONITORING FROST GROWTH IN EVAPORATORS IN A COMPLEX PROCESS.

Author(s) : MALHAMMAR A.

Type of article: Article

Summary

BECAUSE THE FORMATION OF FROST ON A FINNED EVAPORATOR COIL PRODUCES A CONSTANTLY CHANGING SET OF PARAMETERS CAUSING THAT FORMATION, IT IS DIFFICULT TO QUANTIFY WITH ACCURACY. HOWEVER THE AUTHOR HAS PRODUCED A REASONABLE METHOD OF APPROACH USING A MULTI-STEP COMPUTER SIMULATION FROM WHICH HE HAS DRAWN UP A SET OF NOMOGRAMS. COMPARISON OF THE COMPUTER SIMULATION AND NOMOGRAM RESULTS WITH ACTUAL TEST MEASUREMENTS SHOWS A REASONABLE ACCURACY FOR THE PREDICTIONS. THIS IS A WELL ARGUED PAPER TAKING INTO CONSIDERATION THE MAIN INTERACTING CHARACTERISTICS, AND IS FOLLOWED THROUGH FOR BOTH CONSTANT AND REDUCING REFRIGERANT TEMPERATURES. D.W.H.
