Summary
A MONOVALENT HEAT PUMP SYSTEM WITH AMBIENT AIR AS ENERGY SOURCE IS DESCRIBED. THE NEW FEATURE IS THAT IT CONTAINS 2 EVAPORATOR CIRCUITS. ONE EVAPORATOR CIRCUIT IS IN OPERATION AT A TIME: THE OTHER BEING DEFROSTED. THE CIRCUITS ARE SWITCHED OVER EVERY 15 MINUTES. THE HEAT FOR DEFROSTING IS TAKEN FROM THE LIQUID REFRIGERANT AT ABOUT 293 K (20 DEG C). AN OPTIMUM DESIGN OF THE EVAPORATOR IS NECESSARY IN ORDER TO OBTAIN AN ACCEPTABLE ECONOMICAL SYSTEM.
