Multidimensional computation of fluid flow and heat transfer in fin-and-tube heat exchangers.

Summary

A general multidimensional methodology for the computation of fluid flow and heat transfer through fin-and-tube heat exchangers, and their interaction with the surrounding system is presented. The methodology is specially focused on the analysis of the air flow through ammonia flooded fin-and-tube evaporators, widely used in the industrial refrigeration field. Special attention is paid to the numerical aspects of the methodology and the treatment of discontinuities and the free fluid-porous medium interface.
