Summary

Recently, cryosurgery has been established as one of multidisciplinary treatment including primary resection, reoperation and chemotherapy. Five hundred and fifty-six cases with rectal cancer (stage 0: 49, I: 106, II: 137, IIIa: 101, IIIb: 68, IV: 95) were treated during the past 21 years. Among them, the authors studied 62 cases with local recurrence. For the 3- and 5- year survival rates since the first surgery, there were significant differences (p lower than 0.01) between multidisciplinary and conservative as well as between reoperation and conservative treatments.
