Summary

This illustrated dictionary (1400 figures) of aquatic animals and plants sets out information on 1512 species or groups of species of fish, crustaceans, molluscs, mammals and seaweeds which are either the object of international trade or the subject of rules designed to protect them. In each case the scientific name and family name are given along with the most common names in nine languages (English, French, German, Italian, Dutch, Danish, Spanish, Portuguese and Greek). It will facilitate communication at all levels (linguistic, commercial, scientific and technical within and beyond the boundaries of the European Community.
