Type of article: Article

Summary

A VALIDATED MODEL OF A LIQUID CHILLING PLANT HAS BEEN ADAPTED FOR AN INVESTIGATION INTO THE CONTROL OF MULTIPLE LIQUID CHILLING PLANTS INCORPORATING RECIPROCATING COMPRESSORS. PROBLEMS OF SET POINT ACCURACY, SYSTEM STABILITY AND ENERGY EFFICIENCY ARE ANALYSED AND A NEW INTELLIGENT CONTROLLER HAS BEEN DEVELOPED. THE CONTROLLER HAS 3 SEQUENCING SCHEDULES AND IS SUPERIOR TO PID SYSTEMS CONSIDERING FIRST SAFETY, THEN SET POINT ACCURACY AND FINALLY ENERGY EFFICIENCY ; HOWEVER, FURTHER DEVELOPMENT WORK IS REQUIRED.
