THIS PAPER EXAMINES SOME SCHEMES AND COMMENTS ON THE PROBLEMS EXPERIENCED IN THE FIELD. THE VARIOUS STANDARD SYSTEMS PROVIDED BY EQUIPMENT MANUFACTURERS ARE OUTLINED. SPECIAL DIFFICULTIES ASSOCIATED WITH MULTIPLE CHILLERS ARE DISCUSSED AND NECESSITY OF CONSIDERING THE EQUIPMENT CONTROL CHARACTERISTICS WHEN DOING THE HYDRAULIC DESIGN IS EMPHASISED. MENTION IS MADE OF THE CONFLICT BETWEEN AIMS OF SIMPLICITY AND LOW ENERGY CONSUMPTION.
