Summary

This policy brief aims to guide the technological adoption of natural refrigerants based on environmental, climatic, safety, and economic considerations. 
Advocacy for natural refrigerants in Africa is based on scientific evidence of the detrimental effects of synthetic refrigerants on the ozone layer, global warming, and other environmental impacts, and is considered as a key driver for the successful implementation of international agreements such as the Kigali Amendment to the Montreal Protocol.
