Summary
In order to meet incompatible requirements (thermal protection, transparency, ecological considerations) encountered, the glass-facade designer has to master the physical phenomena involved in order to ensure the thermal comfort and acoustic quality users need. Accurate calculation methods are discussed: they were developed by OTH Bâtiments in order to optimize facade design and air-conditioning-equipment sizing. Particular attention is paid to the ventilated double-wall solution and enable to evaluate the value of this technology.
