A NEW METHOD FOR CALCULATING THE COOLING LOAD DUE TO SOLAR RADIATION THROUGH GLAZED SURFACES IS REPORTED, ALLOWING FOR THE STORAGE EFFECT IN THE BUILDING STRUCTURE AND THE SHADOW WHICH VARIES DURING THE DAY. THE NOTION OF < NEGATIVE LOAD > IS INTRODUCED AND THE PROCESS TO CALCULATE A SIMPLER AND MORE ACCURATE ACTUAL LOAD IS EXPLAINED.
