THE METHOD PRESENTED TAKES AS ITS BASIS THE CONCEPT OF A NEGATIVE RADIATION GAIN FROM SOLAR HEAT THROUGH A WINDOW WHICH IS IN SHADE. CALCULATION OF SOLARGAIN THROUGH WINDOWS BECOMES THE SUM OF A POSITIVE GAIN WHICH WOULD OCCUR ASSUMING NO SHADING AND A NEGATIVE GAIN WHICH OCCURS WHEN ANY PART OF THE GLASS IS IN SHADE. CALCULATION OF COOLING LOADS PROCEEDS FROM THE ABOVE WITH ALLOWANCES FOR THE ABSORPTION OF RADIANT HEAT INTO THE SURFACES OF THE ROOM. D.W.H.
