Net efficiency simulations of compact rotary compressors for their optimal performance.

Summary

The paper presents calculations for the net efficiency of the rolling-piston type rotary compressors with a suction volume from 2.5 to 10.26 cm3. The net efficiency is composed of the compression, mechanical and volumetric efficiencies. Calculations were made for a number of combinations of the cylinder inner radius, the piston radius and the cylinder depth for each suction volume. Conclusively, the possible optimal value of the net efficiency and the optimal design values of the cylinder inner radius, the piston radius and the cylinder depth are presented, for a representative case of mechanical friction and gas leakage.
