Summary
A new concept for leak detection using helium is described. The sensor is an ionic pump coupled to a quartz capillary tube, which is selective due to its high helium permeability and which requires accurate temperature control. A theoretical approach is presented together with an expression of the sensitivitiy to helium, hydrogen and other gases. Response and desaturation times are indicated. J.L.
