DESCRIBES AND DISCUSSES CURRENT METHODS OF ASSESSING AND OF MEASURING THERMAL COMFORT USING YAGLOU'S EFFECTIVE TEMPERATURE INDEX AND FANGER'S COMFORT EQUATION. DESCRIBES NEWER PHYSIOLOGICAL FINDINGS WITH RESPECT TO THE SENSATION OF COMFORT WHICH SERVE AS A BASIS FOR NEW THERMAL COMFORT MEASUREMENT METHODS. GOES ON TO DESCRIBE IN SOME DETAIL THE OPERATING PRINCIPLES, COMPONENTS AND OPERATION OF A NEW THERMAL COMFORT MEASUREMENT DEVICE DEVELOPED IN THE FRAUNHOFER INSIUEFR BUILDING PHYSICS, WHICH SIMULATES THE HUMAN SKIN AS REGARDS ITS HEAT OUTPUT AND SURFACE TEMPERATURE WITH AN ACCURACY TO WITHIN 0.1 K.
