Summary

AFTER HAVING BRIEFLY PRESENTED THE MAIN PROCESSES INVOLVED IN THE EQUILIBRIUM, THAT THE HUMAN ORGANISM ACTIVELY SEEKS, BETWEEN THE CONTINUOUS PRODUCTION OF INTERNAL HEAT AND HEAT EXCHANGE WITH THE ENVIRONMENT, THE ARTICLE DEFINES THE THERMAL COMFORT AS EXPRESSED BY THE OCCUPANTS OF THE INHABITED SPACE. IT SHOWS HOW THE COMFORT HAS BEEN EXPERIMENTALLY ESTIMATED, HOW LOCAL CONDITIONS CAN GENERATE DISCOMFORT AND WHAT ARE THE LIMITS OF APPLICATION OF THE RESULTS OBTAINED, NOTABLY IN THE CASE OF HETEROGENEOUS OR TRANSIENT CONDITIONS. THE COLLECTION OF COMPLEMENTARY KNOWLEDGE IS THUS CLARIFIED.
