New refrigerator-recycling center.
[In German. / En allemand.]
Type of article: Article
Summary
The center will eventually have a capacity of 160,000 units (84% of all used-up refrigerators in the German state of Schleswig-Holstein). The reader is taken on a tour, from delivery of the refrigerators to recovery of the constituent materials. A new feature in the centre is the use of active-carbon filters to take free-floating CFCs (released during the dismantling of the refrigerators) out of the air.
