Summary
The process described here is based on the incorporation of specially designed membrane contactors, integrated into existing technical facilities. Without the danger of desiccant carry-over, air can be dehumidified as well as humidified thanks to the indirect contact between a fixed hygroscopic solution and the air. Concept implementation on a pilot level confirms the technical reliability and economic potential reflected in strongly reduced produce loss and energy consumption. Current facilities and experimental know-how enable efficient process screening for a large variety of applications.
