Noise sources in domestic refrigerators.

Author(s) : SANGOI R., BUSSE J. T.

Summary

Possible sources of noise in a refrigerator are the hermetic compressor, existing fans, circulating refrigerant and the thermostat contact system. Furthermore, there are some common system assembling errors resulting in loud noise disturbance. The paper presents and discusses the relative contribution of these noise generators to the final noise spectrum radiated by the refrigerator and or freezer. The influence of electric motor, tolerances of moving parts, compressor unbalance, stiffness of the springs and discharge tube, were experimentally analyzed. The relative contribution of these parameters is discussed. Results of the experiments are given.
