Summary

THE NORMAL-ZONE DYNAMICS IN POROUS COATED SUPERCONDUCTORS IS DISCUSSED BOTH EXPERIMENTALLY AND THEORETICALLY. THE VARIOUS TYPES OF COATINGS WHICH SIGNIFICANTLY IMPROVED THE CRYOSTATIC STABILITY OF SUPERCONDUCTOR WERE INVESTIGATED. THE POROUS COATING ENLARGES THE TEMPERATURE REGION OF NUCLEATE BOILING AND SO CAUSES HEAT MULTISTABILITY OF THE SUPERCONDUCTOR. IT IS SHOWN THAT AT SOME VALUES OF PARAMETERS THE STATIONARY PROPAGATION OF THE NORMAL ZONE IS IMPOSSIBLE. THE QUENCH ENERGY IS SHOWN TO BE THE MULTIVALUED FUNCTION OF THE CURRENT.
