Numerical investigation of boiling flow in a microchannel.

Author(s) : ZHUAN R., WANG W.

Summary

A numerical simulation, using the volume of fluid multiphase flow model was conducted to investigate the boiling flow of water in a microchannel. The evaluation of nucleating bubbles was analyzed, presenting that bubble growth rates from simulation were higher than experimental data. The fluctuation of boiling flow was also explored, indicating that boiling flow pattern is influenced by wall heat fluxes and dimension of a microchannel. Meanwhile, the numerical predications of boiling flow patterns and transitions with time were in agreement with the experimental observations from the past work.
