Summary
The development of natural gas fields off the coast of Nigeria is being continued in 2004. The specific benefits of the floating LNG-FPSO concept convinced the shareholders of these deposits to further pursue this concept following the example of the Snøhvit project which is under construction. This paper focuses mainly on the advantages of deep-water LNG-FPSO concepts due to the availability of cold cooling water, whereas installations based on GBS plants are forced to utilize relatively warm surface water for process cooling.
