Summary

This study contains computational and experimental investigation of the effective thermal conductivity of porous type building bricks. Internal heat transfer (conduction, convection and radiation) is considered in the numerical study under steady state condition. Experiments have been conducted to compare the numerical results with the experimental ones. Practical formulae are obtained and presented for a realistic estimation of the effective thermal conductivity of the building bricks. Present formulations include the effect of all of the parameters of the heat transfer mechanisms.
