ON THE HEAT TRANSMISSION THROUGH SHIPS STRUCTURES.

Summary

DETERMINATION OF HEAT LEAKAGE IN THE HOLDS OF SHIPS USED FOR THE TRANSPORT OF HIGH VISCOSITY HEAVY OILS, WHICH REQUIRED TEMPERATURE CONTROL ON UNLOADING AND FOR THE TRANSPORT OF REFRIGERATED CONTAINERS. DUE TO THE HUGE SIZE OF THESE STRUCTURES, MATHEMATICAL MODELS VALID FOR SIMPLE GEOMETRIES MAY LEAD TO PREDICTIONS WITH UNACCEPTABLE INACCURACY. THE AUTHORS DEVELOPED A CALCULATION PROCEDURE ALLOWING FOR THE ACTUAL SHAPE OF MODERN HOLDS AND BOUNDARY EFFECTIVE CONDITIONS.
