Summary

A theoretical analysis of non-stationary desorption of a gas from a saturated stagnant liquid solution is done. The rate of the mass transfer is determined. A linear stability analysis where a basic flow is induced as a result of a non-linear mass transfer is applied. The disturbance amplitude is determined by using experimental data for mass transfer rate for CO2 desorption from saturated H2O solution in a N2 gas phase. A comparative analysis between absorption and desorption mass transfer rate shows a good agreement with the experimental data.
