Summary

In this paper, experimental and theoretical results regarding air dehumidification with lithium chloride solutions in a polypropylene hollow fibre cross-flow contactor with a membrane surface of 1.2 m2 are reported. The thermodynamic status of air and solution at the contactor's outlets has been measured for different inlet conditions and flow rates. Experimental results show that the dehumidification effectiveness is significantly high up to air flow rates of about 90 m3/h. A theoretical model for vapour mass transfer governing equations has been developed in order to solve the heat and mass transfer governing equations. Theoretical results obtained agree well with experimental results.
