THE USE OF DUTY CYCLERS IN RESIDENTIAL HVAC SYSTEMS WILL NOT BRING ABOUT A REDUCTION IN ENERGY WHEN THE INDOOR CONDITIONS ARE KEPT UNCHANGED. DUTY CYCLERS WILL HAVE NO EFFECT ON RESISTANCE HEATING SYSTEMS, A DETRIMENTAL EFFECT ON COMPRESSOR-DRIVEN SYSTEMS (AIR CONDITIONERS AND HEAT PUMPS), AND A SMALL, IF ANY, BENEFIT ON COMBUSTION FIRED FURNACES.
