A METHOD OF SOLUTION FOR MULTI-DIMENSIONAL PROBLEMS INVOLVING COMBINED HEAT-TRANSFER MODES AND ABSORBING-EMITTING-SCATTERING MEDIA IS KNOWN AS THE P3 APPROXIMATION. THIS METHOD HAS BEEN EXTENDED TO APPLY TO THERMAL BOUNDARY CONDITIONS OF THE GENERAL, CONVECTIVE TYPE. THE DISCUSSION INCLUDES THE EFFECTS OF THE BIOT NUMBER, THE SCATTERING ALBEDO, THE CONDUCTION-RADIATION PARAMETER AND THE SURFACE REFLECTIVITIES. D.W.H.
