Open chilled-water systems for free cooling: a simple concept that lacks simplicity.

Author(s) : COAD W. J.

Summary

The paper describes the method for substituting the production of chilled water with a refrigeration plant, for the use of water cooled with a water cooling tower in winter time. Thus free cooling is used. This can be achieved in a closed circuit with an exchanger, or indirectly with an open circuit. However, some precautions must be taken.
