Open cycle adsorption cooling system with a thermal swing honeycomb dehumidifier.

Summary

The article presents an adsorption air cooling system consisting of a honeycomb rotary dehumidifier, a sensible heat exchanger, a heater and two evaporative coolers with water spray. It is operated in ventilation mode. The performance of the cooling system was examined at regeneration air temperature as low as 80 deg C. The amount of enthalpy of about 16.5 kilojoules/kilograms could be reduced from the room with the COP of 61% at the superficial air velocity of 1 meter/second. However, it was found that the COP and cooling capacity significantly depend on the operating conditions; air velocities, rotation speed of the dehumidifier, regeneration temperature and inlet air conditions.
