THE ARTICLE RECOUNTS ON OPERATIONAL DEFECTS ENCOUNTERED IN HERMETIC COMPRESSORS AND REFRIGERATING SYSTEMS. MAINLY DEALT WITH ARE COMPRESSORS DRIVEN BY SINGLE PHASE MOTORS AND SYSTEMS FITTED WITH CAPILLARIES AS THE REFRIGERANT METERING DEVICE. ALSO INVESTIGATED ARE THE ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS, AS ALSO FAULTS ORIGINATING FROM THE OVERALL SYSTEM ITSELF. INFORMATION FROM MAINTENANCE AND GUIDE MANUALS PUBLISHED BY WELL KNOWN REFRIGERATION FIRMS WAS USED TO DRAW UP THIS REPORT.
