OPTIMIZATION OF A REFRIGERATION COMPRESSOR VALVE DESIGN USING A MODIFIED < COMPLEX > METHOD.

Summary

A SIMULATION MODEL FOR COMPRESSOR WAS USED COMBINED WITH A DIRECT OPTIMIZATION PROCESS OF SEARCH FOR, ALLOWING FOR SPECIFIED CONSTRAINTS, THE VALVE SIZE THAT WOULD GIVE THE BEST THERMODYNAMIC PERFORMANCE (SPECIFIC COMPRESSOR CAPACITY). THE OPTIMUM DESIGN WAS DETERMINED FOR DIFFERENT CLEARANCE VOLUMES, FOR A WHOLE RANGE OF COMPRESSOR VELOCITIES AND OPERATING CONDITIONS. THE SPECIFIED OPERATION PROCESSES FOR WHICH THE OPTIMUM DESIGN WOULD CORRESPOND TO A SATISFACTORY PERFORMANCE FOR A WHOLE RANGE OF CONDITIONS CAN BE DEFINED TOO. THE CONSTRAINT OF A VALVE THAT SHOULD NOT FLUTTER WAS INCLUDED, BUT HIS PARTICULAR CONDITION MAY IMPOSE LIMITS TO THE USE OF THE < COMPLEX > OPTIMIZATION PROCESS.
