Summary

THE HEAT EXCHANGE, BY NATURAL CONVECTION, OF A HEAT PUMP EVAPORATOR IN A VERTICAL OR INCLINED POSITION, HAS BEEN NUMERICALLY MODELLED. THE CALCULATION OF THE MAXIMUM HEAT TRANSFER IS ACHIEVED BY OPTIMIZING THE HEAT TRANSFER COEFFICIENT AS WELL AS THE RATE AT WHICH HEAT IS EXCHANGED PER EVAPORATOR LINEAR METER. THE THEORETICAL RESULTS MAKE IT POSSIBLE TO OPTIMIZE THE SIZING OF DIFFERENT EXPERIMENTAL SYSTEMS WHICH ARE INVESTIGATED IN THE FIELD AND EXPOSED TO VARIOUS ATMOSPHERIC CONDITIONS.
