Radon has only recently been considered on the main sources of environmental radioactivity pollution, while it had already been considered one of the most dangerous causes of cancer pathologies. The paper describes the origin, diffusion, health effects and measurement methods of this pollutant and proposes some techniques to control it and to mitigate its effects.
