Oscillatory pressure drops through a woven-screen packed column subjected to a cyclic flow.

Type of article: Article
Summary
The ability to predict pressure drops and heat transfer rates accurately in a regenerator is of crucial importance in the optimum design of a Stirling engine or a cryocooler. An experiment has been performed to investigate oscillatory pressure drop characteristics in packed columns (composed of three different sizes of woven screen) subjected to a periodically reversing flow of air.
