Summary

The ESCO project of the Hiroo Metropolitan Hospital has successfully achieved its energy saving target in its first service year. New variable speed refrigerators whose COP reached to 6.7 could reduce energy consumption of the water chilling system about half as much as before when steam absorption chillers had been used mainly. The energy conservation rate has been determined as 27% by an agreed measurement and verification methods, but been estimated only at 21.7% by simple comparison of the whole energy consumption. This shows as the importance of M&V for ESCO projects.
