Overall efficiency of a straight fin with combined heat and mass transfer.

Author(s) : WU G., BONG T. Y.

Summary

An analysis was done on the overall efficiency of a straight fin by treating the driving forces for heat transfer and mass transfer separately. Moisture condensation on the fin surface affects the fin efficiency. The overall efficiency of a fully wet fin was found to be nearly independent of the relative humidity of the air. Only when the fin is partially wet does the overall fin efficiency depend significantly on the relative humidity.
